A German artist named Tim Bengel created an avocado sculpture made entirely of gold that has left internet users dumbfounded.
“My first sculpture,” Bengel captioned a photo of the sculpture on Instagram. This sculpture was inspired by a real avocado bagel and was made with “approximately 12 pounds of 18-carat gold.” According to the artist, only the materials are worth more than $250,000. The artist stated in an Instagram video, “For me, the avocado is one of the emblems of the millennial age, and I want to portray the Zeitgeist in this piece.” Since its release, the video has received a lot of attention and has been viewed over 2.3 million times.
