Ruari McSorely was sighted with the bottlenose dolphins in the sea near Castlegregory in County Kerry by volunteers from Fenit RNLI. Mr. McSorely, from the Derry community of Park, was previously known online as “Frostbit Boy” when footage of his bizarre interview on a local news station made headlines.
He told the Irish Independent that he was sitting on the beach when he decided to swim to what he thought was Fenit Island on the spontaneity of the moment.
He responded, “I just jumped in and that was it.” “I saw the Fenit lighthouse out on the water and said, ‘Right, I’m heading that way. If I hadn’t known I was going to be great from the start, I wouldn’t have gotten in.” He was eventually rescued and transferred to University Hospital Kerry in Tralee at 8:15 p.m., 12 hours after he began swimming.
He was released on Wednesday, telling reporters that he felt “100%” after his trauma and that “no long-term damage” had occurred. “The only thing was that my kidneys needed to adjust, so no severe harm was done.” It was simply a matter of going to the hospital to warm up. He continued, “Other than that, I was good.”
Mr. McSorely described how he was encircled by dolphins as he swam. He claimed, “I spotted these blacktails in the sea and wasn’t sure if they were dolphins or sharks.” “I was simply thinking to myself, maybe it wouldn’t have been so bad if I had googled this before jumping in, but they were just dolphins. They wouldn’t have hurt you in any way.”
“They wouldn’t bother me in the least. All they did was swim around me. They may have aided me in some way. It was unquestionably an adventure.”
