A 7-year-old Bengaluru student has produced a video message for Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, pleading with him to mend the city’s potholes. Dhavani N, a class II girl from Tumakuru’s Tiptur, also contributed her pocket money for repairing potholed roads. Dhavani’s request to the CM comes two years after her mother was injured in a car accident caused by a pothole, leaving her with a shattered leg, according to Times Of India.

She stated to Bommai, whom she addressed as ‘Taata’ (Kannada for grandfather), that the state of Bengaluru roads is abysmal since they are riddled with potholes.

“Please get these potholes fixed. They have become death traps. Many people are losing their lives. Their families are orphaned. Who will take care of their families?” In the video, a girl asks Bommai a question.

L. Dhavani’s 1.13-minute video has become popular on social media, with individuals and organizations praising the young lady for her social care.

Dhavani told IANS that she made the video since she had fallen from her bike several times owing to potholes. And, when reading the newspaper at the library, she learned that many people had died as a result of potholes. What if the government refuses to act? Dhavani has stated that she will begin fixing potholes one by one.

The girl’s mother, Rekha Naveen Kumar, claimed that Dhavani, who attends a government school in Hegganahalli, recorded the film herself. “She has a lot of records under her name since she has a good recall. I take her to the library to read newspapers. She observes many things that we fail to notice. Last year I met with an accident due to a pothole and my leg was fractured. She remembers that and related to the incidents of deaths that occurred due to potholes in the city,” she stated.
