In India, a video of monkeys bathing in water tanks intended for domestic usage has gone viral.
The monkeys can be seen in the video going for a swim in the water tanks to cool off from the scorching heat.
According to the India Meteorological Authority, temperatures in India are approaching their highest level in 122 years, with temperatures expected to hit 50 degrees Celsius, affecting agricultural crops and industrial activity.
Gujarat, India, is thought to be the source of the undated footage.
The video generated uproar because, in India, water tanks on rooftops are commonly eaten and used in the preparation of food.
Some viewers have also demanded action.
The monkeys, on the other hand, were spotted lounging in the heat, with some even performing massages.
Large sections of India had a considerable spike in temperatures during the months of March and April, according to the Indian weather service, with temperatures reaching 46 degrees Celsius in the country’s centre and north in recent days.
The authorities also stated that the excessive heat is threatening to exacerbate India’s energy crisis by increasing demand for cooling devices and that some Indian regions have reported a decline in water supplies, which is expected to intensify until the annual monsoon rains in June and July.
The heat wave is anticipated to affect Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and parts of Maharashtra the hardest. Heat waves have killed more than 6,500 people in India since 2010, according to scientists, and the cause is climate change.
Local residents captured the manifestations of a bunch of monkeys fleeing the intense heat by swimming inside water tanks designed for domestic usage to escape the high temperatures over the previous days.
