A video has been surfacing all over the internet where we can see a Swiggy delivery boy getting slapped by a cop in broad daylight. The incident took place on Avinashi Road in the Coimbatore City of Tamil Nadu. The video was captured by a witness on a mobile phone and it shows how the Swiggy delivery boy is slapped multiple times.
According to the reports, the delivery agent is identified as M. Mohanasundaram, who is a resident of Chinnayampalayam in the city. The delivery boy has lodged a complaint with City Police Commissioner Pradip Kumar. In his complaint, the delivery boy stated that the incident took place somewhere around 5.45 pm at the Fun Mall junction opposite Peelamedu police station on Avinashi Road as he was on his way to Pankaja Mill Road after picking up a parcel from Hope College.
He further added that when he reached the traffic signal opposite the mall, a pedestrian woman was hit on her shoulder by a private school bus when she was trying to cross the road. He claimed that the bus didn’t stop at the sight. He said that a youngster and he accompanied the woman along with a few passersby stopped the bus on the link road to question the driver on his negligent act.
Mohanansundaram said that the traffic cop arrived at the spot and started questioning the delivery boy on why he intervened in the matter and started slapping him multiple times. He also added that the cop took his mobile phone, earphones, and keys to his two-wheeler. The cop later returned the key as the delivery boy apologized to him since he was running late to deliver the food.
An internal inquiry has been set up into the incident, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) S.R. Senthilkumar, reported The Hindu.
