A video has been released showing a guy surviving a direct lightning strike in Jakarta, Indonesia. According to local media, the 35-year-old man was on duty as a guard for a weighty machinery firm on Jakarta’s northwestern outskirts when lightning struck him. The man is seen walking in an open location with an umbrella in his hand as it is pouring, according to CCTV footage of the incident that has surfaced. A bolt of lightning strikes the man a few seconds later, and sparks can be seen flying in the footage. As a result, the man collides with his coworkers, who run to his aid.

According to Detik News, the man survived the lethal strike but received burns on his hands. He was transferred to a nearby hospital for treatment right afterward and is currently healing at home. The guard’s walkie-talkie, which he had in his hands, is thought to have attracted the lightning strike. Others felt that having an umbrella improved the likelihood of being struck by lightning.

In the meantime, the video has gone popular on social media, surprising many people.

The tragedy occurred near Jakarta last week, but the news was actually released on December 26.
