YouTube helps us to showcase our talent and connect with our fans: Mohit Gaur

Hailing from Jaipur, Mohit Gaur has climbed quite a bit of success stairs in his career. His passion for singing brought him to Mumbai. The singer was the second runner-up of Star Plus singing show ‘India’s Raw Star’.

Sharing about his journey, he says, “I was in the 10th standard when I used to watch Indian Idol. I was a big fan of Udit Narayan and wanted to sing like him. Once, I was casually humming his song and my friend praised my voice. Later, I decided to go to my Nanaji’s place (a folk singer) in order to get trained.  When I sang in front of him, he said that I was not cut out for this profession. However, he continued to teach me music and I started practicing the same. I completed my engineering. During my course, I met many people who supported me a lot and helped me achieve my goal in the music industry.”

Indeed, an inspiring story.

Next, when we ask him how he got the chance to be a part of India’s Raw Star, he shares, “I met Archit Bhayia in 4th year of engineering. He had his own band Ziddh and he was a lead vocalist. He got selected for India’s Raw Star in the silent audition. He pushed me to audition. I got selected and finally became second runner-up. It was a proud moment for my entire family”

So has his parents always supported him in his career? “Well, there is a story behind it. I used to write my songs and sing them. Mother’s Day (12 May 2013) was round the corner. I decided to gift her something very special. I wrote and composed a song for her. I sang O Momma My Baby for her in front of my family. My dad stood up and said my mom that “Chinu (my nickname) ko karne de jo woh karna chahata hai” I was so happy. Later, I never looked back.”

Mohit feels that YouTube is a perfect platform for unique talents. “I thought of uploading my videos on YouTube so I created a page. The best part of this platform is that the originality is always there. If you give your song to someone else you would never get to portray the way you want. It is good that such an awesome platform allows us to showcase our talent and it connects us with our fans. I also got to shoot O Momma My Baby song with my mom which was the best gift to my mother.”

Way to go boy!
