Social media is teeming with influencers and producers pushing notions and ideas that stand out as novel viewpoints. Most of the digital, highly connected population on the internet is in the Generation Z age range.
The generation after the millennials, known as Gen Z, will rule the planet in the decades to come.
Analyzing the beauty industry is the ideal method to do it if we want to genuinely internalize this concept and see this phenomenon take off as we speak.
One consumes self-care routines, makeup tutorials, product reviews, and boutique posts on social media frequently and in large quantities. These engagements show how the beauty industry is evolving in line with the mindset of the ascendant new generation.
Analysts at the investment firm Jefferies stated, “Gen Z consumers have instituted a paradigm shift in the psyche of the Beauty consumer. As a generation focused on authenticity, not conformity – Gen Z views beauty as a way to express their intrinsic value versus as a tool to achieve external validation,” as reported by Fortune.
This modification directly affects how brands sell their goods in a market where the majority of consumers are Gen Z. According to a report by the market research company Euromonitor, fashion companies now create goods that reflect beauty from a holistic angle. These items’ promotion of beauty include ideas of self-comfort, digestive health, and mental health.
The focus of the Euromonitor analysis was on how the fashion industry’s fragrance category has begun adjusting in line with this paradigm shift. The report stated that “Propelled by Gen Z, the fragrance category has shifted its marketing messaging from sexualized imagery to a focus on scent profile and mindfulness.”
