She used to perform, sing at the church when she was young, and hence pursued a career in gospel music as a teenager. Perry joined hands with Red Hill Records and released her very first studio album Katy Hudson in 2001, which perhaps didn’t attain success. She moved to Los Angeles and started working with producers like Glen Ballard, Dr. Luke, and Max Martin and adopted the stage name ‘Katy Perry’.
