Actor Ajay Devgn of Drishyam 2 remembered eating Frankie practically daily during his undergraduate years and he still treasures those carefree days of dining on the streets of Mumbai in a video chat with a lifestyle website.

Recipe for Frankie

A tongue-tingling potato combination is rolled up within a roti wrap to create Veg Frankie, one of Mumbai’s most well-known street snacks.

INGREDIENTS NECESSARY

4-6 rotis made with refined flour, 2 tablespoons of oil, 1 teaspoon of ginger-garlic paste, 2 cups of boiling potatoes, 1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes, 1 teaspoon of garam masala, 1/2 teaspoon of chaat masala, 2 tablespoons of coriander leaves, salt to taste, and 2 tablespoons of butter.

STEP 1

Ginger and garlic paste is sautéed in hot oil for 30 seconds in a non-stick pan.

STEP 2

Salt, chaat masala, garam masala, coriander, and mashed, and boiled potatoes should all be added at this point. Cook for 2 minutes.

STEP 3

On a tava, butter is used to warm the roti. It needs to be cooked for a few minutes or until it gets light brown.

STEP 4

On a dry, spotless surface, place the roti.

Add 2 tablespoons of the filling, sprinkle chaat masala and thinly sliced onion on top, and then tightly fold it up.

STEP 5

It should be wrapped in tissue paper or aluminum foil.

STEP 6

Tomato ketchup or green chutney should be served right away.
