Tea is consumed all over the globe, whether it’s green, black, herbal tea. In India and most of the other countries, its consumption is much higher and everywhere you find outlets of black tea. When it comes to which tea you should consume, black or green, it’s become a debatable topic. The only key difference between the two is that black tea is oxidized whereas green tea is not. Here we look at first the benefits of black tea and green tea.
Though both teas differ, they may provide you similar benefits.
Both the teas are rich in a group of protective antioxidants. Specifically, they contain flavonoids. And flavonoids are good for your heart. The study also found that both types of tea helped reduce bad cholesterol and triglycerides. Your blood pressure may be brought under control with the consumption of tea. Both types of tea contain caffeine. Caffeine stimulates your nervous system. Green tea contains less caffeine compared to black tea. Caffeine can boost alertness, mood, as well as vigilance. Another difference between green tea and black tea is the content of antioxidant EGCG, in which green tea has extra health benefits. It is helpful for cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, fatigue, Liver protection, calming etc. On another side, black tea contains Theaflavins, a group of polyphenols. Theaflavins help you to control sugar levels, cholesterol, and also help reduce inflammation.
It is difficult to say which tea one should consume, as both have almost similar benefits. Compared to antioxidants which green tea contains more, it is advisable to consume green tea more often than black tea.
