What is Puranpoli? It’s a traditional Maharashtrian sweet paratha is stuffed with goodies like dal, jaggery, and coconut. In all different states, they have their own traditional dishes. In Maharashtra also there are few traditional unique dishes are made for various festivals. For Gudi padwa, Puranpoli is among all other dishes Maharashtrian makes at home. This dish is quite iconic and it’s really delicious. If you wish to try Puranpoli at home, you can make it, with few steps. Here we look at the steps to make Puranpoli relish the authentic taste of Maharashtra.
INGREDIENTS:
* Chana dal, jaggery, grated coconut.
* Cardamom, nutmeg, and saffron.
* Ghee, whole wheat flour, oil.
INSTRUCTIONS:
* Wash chana dal 2-3 times. Drain all water and add fresh water and let the dal cook on a medium flame for an hour. Discard white foam from the lentils.
* Drain all water and put dal in the and add jaggery, sugar, nutmeg, cardamom powder, dry ginger, and saffron to the lentils.
* Mix it well and then blend in a blender. This is to be used for stuffing.
* Now you have to make the outside cover of the poli. For that make soft dough with whole wheat flour, salt, saffron, and oil.
* This dough should be extremely soft so that you can get soft and flaky Puran Poli.
* Roll the dough to make a four to five-inch diameter circle.
* Put the stuffing in the center of the rolled dough and then collect all the sides of the dough on top of the stuffing and pinch it together.
* Roll the poli softly with extra care using dry flour.
* Put Tawa and smoke this Puran Poli. Shuffle it and smoke it properly.
* While smoking put ghee.
* Your homemade Puranpoli is ready to serve hot. You can store it for few days and enjoy it.
