On some mornings, everything goes according to plan. You’ve awoken before your alarm has gone off. Your morning exercise has the feel of a game. The coffee has improved. In addition, there is no traffic on your route to work. And you feel like you could conquer the world when you sit down to work. Other days aren’t as pleasant. While you can’t always avoid unfavourable morning situations, experts say there are a few things you can do to help your mornings go in the right direction so you can get the most out of the remainder of your day.
1. Plan ahead of time!
Make a plan, one of the most effective things you can do to start your day on the right foot, before you go to sleep the night before. It doesn’t have to be a minute-by-minute schedule, but it should outline the primary tasks or goals you want to achieve the following day — as well as how you want to spend the first few hours. Lay out your clothing and make sure you have everything you need to make a healthy breakfast. It is beneficial to plan for the minor details that may cause you to lose time. It’s all in the name of avoiding “choice fatigue.”
2. Refrain from hitting the snooze button.
Giving yourself a few additional minutes of sleep may appear to be listening to your body, but you’re definitely doing more harm than good in the long run. Because the extra 10 minutes of sleep aren’t long enough for your body to complete another sleep cycle, it’s likely to be low-quality, light sleep. Because our circadian rhythms are so important in managing our energy levels and metabolism, maintaining a consistent sleep pattern is one of the most important things you can do to feel energised and ready to face the day.
3. Drink plenty of water
Toss in some lemon, ice, or cucumber, or drink it straight up. Overnight, we become dehydrated. A glass of water first thing in the morning might assist replenish your body’s hydration resources. It also gets your metabolism off to a good start.
4. Take some time to meditate.
Although some people may not experience an energy boost from meditation, it does help us think more effectively and efficiently, which should lead to a more productive day. Do you have problems tuning out your worries and putting your brain off? Try writing in a notebook or colouring in a colouring book. Both hobbies have the same effect as meditation in terms of calming, slowing, and focusing your thoughts, as well as inspiring you to think more creatively.
5. Workout
It will reward you if you can muster the energy to begin sweating right away. Endorphins are substances produced in the brain that help to reduce pain and suffering while also increasing happiness (basically the body’s natural painkillers). Furthermore, endorphins can lower stress hormones, allowing you to start your day unafraid and in command.
