Lip balms have long been used to soothe chapped and dry lips. Then there were tinted lip balms, which performed the same thing but gave a pop of color to keep the face from seeming too pale. Then, to take things a step further, there was a product that not only hydrated and pigmented the lips, but was also ideal for achieving a flushed, rosy glow on the cheeks!

Lip and cheek stains have been all the rage, with some of the most well-known companies and cosmetic enthusiasts promoting them. But why pay top dollar for something you can create yourself with a few basic ingredients?

You must first crush the rose petals. Place the petals in a hand grinder and smash them with about 1/4 cup of water.

To help crush the petals easier, add half a lemon’s worth of lemon juice until the petals are fully pulverized and have created small particles.

Then strain it through a strainer. Hold a bowl over the container underneath and squeeze with your thumb until the petals have strained through. You can add a spoon of rose water to this to make it smell lovely while also hydrating your skin and lips! (optional)

Add the lemon juice from the remaining half lemon to this liquid in a double boiler. Allow for a few minutes of steaming. (The more lemon you use, the darker the hue will get.)

Add it to the container with a dropper once it has cooled down and dab on your cheeks and lips for a natural, reddish hue.
