Inner serenity isn’t something you “earn,” it’s something you’re born with. You will never find lasting serenity if you are oblivious of your actual nature. At best, you might experience brief intervals of tranquillity after achieving some sort of physical goal or forming an emotional link with another person. However, this will not bring long-term tranquillity because whatever gains can be lost, and external conditions are continually changing.
What is it that prevents us from understanding genuine nature? All of the ideas you have about yourself that were instilled in you by your parents, your educational system, your cultural institutions, and, most importantly, your religious institutions; all of these things combine to form your identity.
When your attention is drawn to your ideas, notions, identity, and anything else in your mind, you will miss what comes before all of that. Peace/stillness/silence is the “heart” of who you are, and it is always present since it is You. Be still and realise that you’re not alone. What you are is simple being-ness, existence, presence, and am-ness, and the beauty of it is that you intuitively know this if you just take the time to go inside and examine what’s already completely here in this right moment, rather than going “out there” for solutions.
Here are some tips to help you gain peace of mind
1. Start with the most daunting task in the morning
2. Try and let go of things that you do not control.
3. Do not worry about results.
4. Do not worry about what others think of you.
5. Be one with nature.
