Young and talented actor Faisal Khan, who enthralled audiences in TV shows like Bharat Ka Veer Putra – Maharana Pratap and Chandragupta Maurya, is currently entertaining the masses in Sony SAB’s larger-than-life show Dharm Yoddha Garud. The actor is extremely serious about his fitness routine. And whenever he has time on hand, he does not miss out on hitting the gym and working on his body. What is your cheat food?

I feel cheat days are necessary when you regularly work out. I do have my cheat days. My cheat meal consists of rice. I don’t prefer having pizza or a burger. Also, I strictly avoid oily food. Rice and dal are in my cheat meal.

Favourite exercise?

I had to work on my physique for my character in the show Dharm Yoddha Garud, hence I have a set routine. Yoga plays an important part in my fitness routine, which I practice every morning. Other than that I work out at the gym every day; except Mondays, I skip and dance whenever I can. Swimming and cycling are also part of my workout routine.

Your best morning routine will comprise of

I usually start my mornings with a cup of green tea or a glass of hot water with lime, which helps clear the system well and gives a fresh start to the day. I have breakfast like a king, it usually comprises egg whites with brown bread or sometimes if I feel like some garlic bread. I like a bowl of poha too if it is made at home on that day. After my breakfast is done I leave for the shoot of Dharm Yoddha Garud

Your take on health supplements

If you are following a healthy diet, then there is no need for health supplements. Rather than supplements, I believe in eating clean.

Best way to burn calories

I make it a point to do a 20–30-minute treadmill workout every day; and if needed, according to what I have eaten the previous day, I balance the workout time properly.

One tip for everyday fitness

Many people don’t understand what exactly fitness means. Most of us think that getting slimmer by following crash diets will make us healthy but that’s a myth. Fitness requires practicing meditation and consuming clean food and adequate water and fruits. Try and avoid crash diets as I feel that one should eat whatever they like, but in proportion, and then exercise well to burn off all the fat. Exercising should be the most important factor in everyone’s daily routine as that is the only thing that keeps you fit and strong.
