Sunil Chhetri and Sonam Bhattacharya’s love story started with Sonam Bhattacharya, the daughter of coach Mohun Bagan, who stole his number from her father’s phone. At that time, Sunil was 18 and Sonam was 15. And her father always talked about Sunil in front of her, so she felt excited and texted him that she was a big fan and wanted to meet him. And they met each other. After meeting her, he realized she was just a kid and he advised her to study. But this didn’t end there because they couldn’t stop texting each other for some reason.
An incident happened where they were about to get caught by her father. So they decided to stop it. However, Sunil couldn’t forget her, so they started chatting and meeting again as they grew stronger as the years passed. They eventually fell for each other. And after gathering much courage, he asked his coach, Mohun Bagan, for his daughter’s hand. And it went well. The couple tied the knot on December 4, 2017, in a grand ceremony in Kolkata. The couple dated each other for 13 years before taking the marriage step.
