What You Need To Do If You Aren’t Living Up To Your Expectations

Here are some tips for you if you feel you have been living up to your expectation!

Sometimes meeting your own expectations can get a bit tricky. Be it for any reason, like you’ve set unrealistic goals that are tough to achieve or that you’ve pushed yourself too much. We always end up comparing ourselves with others and insist that we are lacking in some way or the other.

Always remember to not let the disappointment get you down. Figure out why you weren’t able to reach your goals and set up new, more achievable goals! Here are a few tips when you feel like you aren’t living up to your expectations.

1) Start anew:
Ask yourself if this expectation that you have for yourself is your own or if they are driven by the people around you. It’s okay to start anew, even if ‘square one’ is frustrating, it’s the best place to gain progress!

2) Brainstorm:
Personal goals and expectations are a very personal challenge! It requires a lot of introspection. Write down what you want to achieve, uncensored and realistic, without any judgment.

3) Embrace the moment:
You need to accept and embrace this very moment in life, no matter where you are in life. Even if it is a hard place, it is alright! It is still a place to start!

4) Create new goals:
Now that you have decided to start anew, make anew! Make new goals, or expectations, and do so in a way that helps you move forward instead of getting in the way. Rearrange the narrative a bit! “While I can’t be the next president, maybe I should exercise more”.

5) Nothing is carved in stone:
Let your expectations be fluid and shift from time to time to best help you move forward. Change is all a part of life, so why not make it a tool to deal with life too!

And, if the thing still doesn’t pan out the way you want them to, don’t let disappointment and frustration put you down. Just start at step one! We hope these tips help you in your endeavors to better yourself and your living!
