People from the UK have the Northern Lights, the Eiffel Tower, and — closer to home — Loch Ness on their bucket lists of European vacation destinations.

A survey of 2,000 individuals found that Pompeii, Lake Como, and the Colosseum in Rome were the top three tourist attractions in Italy.

There is also demand for places like our own Stonehenge, the Black Forest in Germany, and the Blue Lagoon in Iceland.

Currently, one-third of individuals have a list of locations they hope to see before they die, and they estimate it will take them an average of 11 years to cross everything off.

According to the research, which was commissioned by ALL – Accor Live Limitless – Accor’s lifestyle loyalty program, experiencing the Northern Lights tops peoples’ travel wish lists, with Rome, Athens, and Barcelona also ranking highly.

Travelers aspire to experiences like riding the Orient Express, husky sledding in Lapland, and sailing through Greek islands because they want to do more than simply see a place; they want to be a part of it.

The top landmark that tourists want to visit when they travel is a castle, followed by natural landscapes and bodies of water.

37% of the normal bucket list is typically European, while 34% of people stated there are still many sites in Europe they haven’t visited.

Luc Gesvret, a spokesman for Accor, said: “It’s wonderful to see how much of a Brit’s bucket list is inspired by Europe and the desire to discover amazing places and experiences only a few hours away. The return of travel More individuals than ever have a desire to travel and have been waiting to finally fulfill their bucket list adventures.”

Luc Gesvret continued:”People believe that having a travel bucket list stimulates them and offers them something to look forward to, and one in five of the Brits surveyed have trips already planned and scheduled in the upcoming year. There is plenty to explore and enjoy in Europe for everyone, whether your travels are food-focused, adventure-driven, or inspired by historical places.”
