When Kim Soo Hyun was released from the army in July 2019, fans rejoiced. Because of his outstanding service, Kim Soo Hyun received an early promotion and was sent to the 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, where he completed his required military duty. Fans were eagerly awaiting his return to small-screen television after his cameo in the K-drama Hotel Del Luna, and he most recently appeared in the hit show It’s Okay To Not Be Okay!
For all the Kim Soo Hyun’s fans out there, we’ve put together the following K-drama and movie watch list:
1. Dream High (2011)
When Kim Soo Hyun portrayed the musical prodigy Song Sam Dong in Dream High, his reputation increased. You may observe Soo Hyun’s bashful side in this teen musical drama and be in awe of his talent to portray a charming country bumpkin.
In the drama’s cast of idol stars, which also included members of the boy group 2 PM Bae Suzy, IU, and Ok TaecYeon, Soo Hyun was the lone actor. Soo Hyun reportedly completed three months of training at JPY Entertainment (the agency of K-pop groups like TWICE, Got7, and Stray Kids). Two original songs from the soundtrack were produced by the heartthrob: “Dreaming,” a solo, and “Dream High,” the album’s title song, which he co-wrote with the cast.
2. Moon Embracing The Sun (2012)
This historical drama, which was dubbed “Nation’s Drama,” helped Soo Hyun’s rising stardom even further soar. He plays King Lee Hwon, a wise king who falls in love with Yeon Woo, a shaman, in the movie. The Joseon Dynasty-themed drama provided Soo Hyun with a wonderful opportunity to further showcase both his acting skills and his developing singing talent (he sang the OST tracks “Only You,” a traditional ballad, and “Another Way”).
3. It’s Okay To Not Be Okay (2020)
In his most recent drama, Soo Hyun plays Gang Tae, a health worker who has spent his entire life caring for his autistic brother. When he meets Mun Young, a children’s book author with an antisocial personality disorder, his life is forever altered (Seo Ye Ji).
