Here is a list of movies that didn’t have a stereotypical ‘Happy ever after’ ending. Check it out:

Bollywood has knit some amazing stories over the years. We have a bunch of classics that will never die, ones that will always stay close to our hearts. Bollywood is notorious for its optimistic ends but a ‘happy ever after’ is a happy ending, not a realistic one. However, B-town has its rare moments where it chose a realistic end to their movies, but it has been satisfying nonetheless! Here are 5 movies that ended on a realistic note rather than a stereotypical ‘Happy ever after’. Check it out:

1) Devdas:
This tragic love story lives in the hearts of many. The love story follows two childhood sweethearts who are separated by their different classes in society and the pride of the family. The story, while it ends on a realistic note, it is still sad. The movie ends with Devdas dying at the doorstep of Paro’s home.

2) Raanjanaa:
Bollywood has a bad habit of glorifying a lot of toxic behavior in the name of love. One of these toxic behaviors being stalking the girl you like, and incredulously the girl falls in love eventually. However, Raanhjanaa broke the cliché cycle when the movie ended with the main character dying beside the girl he likes, who still hates him.

3) Queen:
Queen has so many great lessons in it! From the main character’s brave and determined decision of going on her honeymoon even if it is alone to traveling and befriending strangers in turn creating a special bond, the movie has it all. It is especially heartwarming to watch its end though. Her ex-fiance attempts to patch things up after calling off the wedding once. But she refuses as she comes out of this species valuing and respecting herself more!

4) Tumbhad:
This supernatural story was a breath of fresh air with its gripping story of greed and a close look at relationships. This supernatural movie doesn’t end happily but leaves everyone humbled with a moral message instead. In the end, the father loses his life in an attempt to save his son from the creature that guards the wealth the duo often stole.

5) Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam:
This classic Bollywood romance had a very realistic portrayal of the main character Nandini, played by Aishwarya, giving up her love for her childish lover and going back to her supportive husband. Any woman would want to choose someone supportive and mature like Vanraj played by Ajay Devgn.
