India continues to be a thriller for actor Christian Slater. And it’s something he’d like to address swiftly by visiting the country once the Covid-19 concern has passed. However, he believes that being inclusive of international cultures is a necessity of the hour, not only in personal life but also professionally.

“I’d like to see more range” (onscreen). All doors must be open to people of all cultures, races, and ethnicities. When asked about the range of discourse shown onscreen in Hollywood, Slater responds, “America is a melting pot, and immigrants have come and contributed a lot to our history.”

The Legend of Billie Jean (1985) star continues to bat for one another, resulting in increased unity. “That’s what I’m all about…. people connecting, becoming more aware of different cultures, and learning what makes different places so beautiful and unique. We’re doing ourselves a great injustice if we shut ourselves off from issues that are completely different, international, unknown, or mysterious.,” says Slater, who believes the Statue of Liberty has been misinterpreted recently.

“Every part in the last couple of years has been so delusional, so loopy, and [it is] simply beyond my comprehension,” he says.

“We’re in the process of opening doors, learning, and becoming more conscious,” the 52-year-old says of Hollywood’s growing inclusiveness. “Unfortunately, it’s a process that takes time. I’m simply a participant in that programme. Right now, I’m a cog in the wheel.”

When you ask him about his friendship with Priyanka Chopra Jonas and his relationship with India, he quickly shows his admiration for the country.
