Priyamani has spoken out about the cruel insults sent at her because of how her character, Suchi, interacts with her husband, Srikant Tiwari, played by Manoj Bajpayee in the film The Family Man. According to the episode, Suchi cheated on Srikant with her coworker Arvind, played by Sharad Kelkar.

Priyamani stated in an interview that it is unfair to criticize her for the conduct of a fictional character, especially since season two of The Family Man premiered on Amazon Prime on June 4.

When asked if she received any hate mail after the first season, Priyamani replied in Hindi to journalist Puja Talwar, “Not too much in season one, but she got a lot of flak in season two. Almost every day, the first thing everyone says is, ‘you shouldn’t have betrayed Srikant,’ ‘you shouldn’t have done this to Srikant,’ ‘why did you stab Srikant in the back?'”

She went on, “She laughs it off, but she believes she must have done something well for them to make such a remark. She also hears – and she’s not sure if this is true or not – that Suchi is one of the most despised characters in the web series world right now, following season two. They must have done something wrong for them to despise the character so much.”

Priyamani stated that she addressed the problem with designers Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK and that she considered discussing the situation publicly, but decided against it.

Even after season two, the question of ‘Lonavala mein kya hua (What occurred in Lonavala)’ remains unsolved. This narrative thread revolves around a business trip Suchi took with Arvind, during which it is indicated that something transpired between them. Raj and DK have said that they do not want the audience to know what transpired between Suchi and Arvind until Srikant is informed.

According to co-director Suparn Varma, pointing fingers at Suchi is sexist since no one would raise an eyebrow if a guy were in the same situation. “Why should it be responded to? Why can’t Suchi be her own person, with her own life and privacy? That is my personal opinion.” During an interview with Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival, he stated.
