Gangubai Kathiawadi, the film, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and starring Alia Bhatt, is partially inspired by the life of Gangubai Harjivandas, a madame in Mumbai’s red-light district of Kamathipura.
Alia plays a strong lead in the film, and she is mostly seen dressed in white sarees with her hair pulled up into a tidy bun and blood-red roses nestled into her locks. For the film’s promotion, the 28-year-old stayed close to her role, wearing exclusively white ensembles in various combinations, presenting some of the most simple yet stunning looks in the shape of traditional desi attire such as sarees and suits to dazzling dresses and contemporary outfits.
Alia’s advertising clothing, styled by famous stylists Ami Patel and Garima Garg, proved that there is no such thing as too much white.
Alia then changed into a silk organza outfit from Punit Balana’s collection. This ensemble was completed with a basic white saree and matching blouse, as well as stunning Polki earrings from House of Shikha. This time, her hair was left open and brushed to one side, with deep red roses tucked into her locks for a pop of color.
