On the red carpet for the launch of her new period drama Armageddon Time on May 19, Anne Hathaway stole the show. It was the star’s first appearance at the Cannes Film Festival, and she certainly turned up the glam for her first appearance, with many admirers noticing a strong resemblance to one of her former roles, Princess Amelia Mignonette Thermopolis Renaldi of Genovia in The Princess Diaries.

For those unfamiliar with the Disney classic from 2001, Hathaway plays an awkward adolescent who learns from her distant grandmother (Julie Andrews) that she is the sole heir to the imaginary European country of Genovia. As Hathaway considers accepting her role as a future queen, she gets a royal makeover and etiquette lessons.

Though, the actor didn’t require a montage from a 2000s film. As she waved to the cheering spectators, she exuded easy flair and grace.

Hathaway donned an Armani Privé white sequined column gown with a modest cutaway, which she complemented with Jimmy Choo’s silver strappy shoes. The outfit was completed with a large white silk bow that doubled as a floor-length stole, channeling the dazzling charm of Grace Kelly, the movie star turned Princess of Monaco.

Of course, no royal ensemble is complete without opulent jewelry, and Hathaway did not disappoint with her dazzlingly embellished neck. Bulgari’s Mediterranean Reverie necklace, a spectacular piece from the house’s new Eden The Garden of Wonders High Jewelry collection that boasts 10.715 brilliant carats of royal blue cushion-cut sapphire from Sri Lanka, was worn by Hathaway for the shamelessly gorgeous event. It was the first time the piece had ever been witnessed on the Cannes red carpet, just like the actor herself.
