B.J. Novak, who played B.J. on the famous programme The Office in the 1990s, recently reflected on his experience on the show. Novak, 42, opened up to ET about maybe working with his former The Office co-stars while promoting his new show, The Premise, and also revealed why he and Mindy Kaling, despite being close friends, haven’t worked together since the show ended.
“I’m constantly reminded of Rainn Wilson, who played Dwight, and what an incredible talent he is. He’s best known for his role as Dwight, although he was both a serious actor and a clown. I mean, he’s done everything, so that’s a character I’d want to write for. Of course, I’d love to work with Steve Carrell again, as well as Mindy Kaling.” B.J. went on.
“I’d love to do something with her eventually,” he said, “but we’re scared that we’d argue too much to make it.” Fans may recall that B.J. and Mindy, 42, co-starred on The Office and also served as producers and writers. When they were filming the show, they also dated for a short time. Kaling previously stated that their current relationship is “romantically charged,” but that she does not believe they will date again. It’s fun being Kaling’s best buddy, according to Novak, who is also the godfather of Kaling’s kid. Despite the fact that they no longer work together, B.J. and Mindy’s two children, Katherine, three, and Spencer, two, are extremely close.
