The Hadid sisters are well-versed in the power of beautiful denim. Bella, Gigi, and Yolanda walked out in matching blues for Sunday brunch in New York over the weekend, and the model sisters have been known to borrow each other’s jeans on occasion. Last night, though, the younger sister displayed a pretty mature response to the denim sweater. The 20-year-old wore a blue cotton bustier dress to the Dior Poison Club fragrance launch party in Manhattan, which harkens back to Maria Grazia Chiuri’s inaugural collection for the house, which debuted in Spring 2017—just in time for Fashion Week.It wouldn’t be the first time Hadid wore a lingerie-inspired look. Last month, the houses held a masquerade event in Paris.

She was dressed in a transparent powder-blue gown that left little room for interpretation. This outfit was a start in the right direction. The throwback ’70s fit-and-flare skirt was just substantial enough to balance out the small embroidered straps. It was a barely-there appearance that she couldn’t hide under her shaggy fur coat, which she wore loosely about her shoulders. Oversize hoop earrings and a pair of tall strappy heels pulled the attention up, while a minimalist drop necklace went beyond the top of her bustier was delicate and sensual. Blue jean baby, to be sure.

In New York She went for a pair of flares with grommet embellishments and a Rolling Stones-style lip kiss patch this time, proving that even the most basic of wardrobe basics can be given new life with a few extra accents and a little DIY-ing. A tapered jean silhouette would have worked just as well, but the cropped flare hem was more surprising, not to mention ideal for showcasing a pair of killer creeper boots. Her Fear of God denim jacket’s corduroy lining complemented her henley sweater. The design gave the shoulders and sleeves a spacious feel for a creative play on proportions that contrasted wonderfully with her tailored slacks, despite the fact that her outerwear was officially from the men’s section of the store. Tinted sunglasses completed her off-duty attire with a last dose of cool blues, extending the ’70s rocker attitude.
