A 2014 signing with IMG Models brought American model Isabella Khair Hadid into the fold. The Model of the Year 2016 Awards was held on Model.com in December 2016, and the industry selected her as the winner.
A daughter of real estate developer Mohamed Hadid and former model Yolanda Hadid, Isabella Khair Hadid, was born in Washington, D.C., and was raised in Los Angeles, California. While her father is an American of Palestinian descent, her mother is an American of Dutch descent. Anwar, Hadid’s younger brother, and Gigi, her older sister and fellow model, are her siblings. Marielle and Alana, her father’s older half-sisters, are her relatives.
In the early 2000s and the 1990s, Bella Hadid was a well-known advocate for bringing back retro fashion trends. The supermodel, however, went even further back in time with her most recent outfit, stepping right into the era that gave the world such fashion legends as Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, and Grace Kelly.
On Instagram, Hadid posted a photo of her most recent European outfit. The Kin Euphorics member cut a chic figure in a clinging, strapless black bodysuit as she strolled down the beach with her boyfriend, Marc Kalman. The outfit reminded me of something Sandy would have worn at the end of Grease or even something you might find in Baby’s wardrobe in Dirty Dancing, with its Capri pant length and large belt buckle. The side cutouts, though, gave Hadid’s overall appearance a contemporary feel.
Hadid chose a pair of kitten heels in snakeskin. She accessorized appropriately as well, delicately wrapping a sheer scarf from Miu Miu around her neck (for that Roman Holiday feel), sporting oval sunglasses, gold heart stud earrings, and a tonne of bejewelled rings and bracelets. With a black shoulder purse, she completed the ensemble.
For those who have followed Hadid’s style for a while, her affinity for vintage is not a surprise. Hadid and celebrity stylist Law Roach put together a series of historical red-carpet costumes for her recent showing at the Cannes Film Festival in 2022, including a Versace dress from 1987 with an Old Hollywood vibe and a vintage Chanel ball gown in black and white.
In a 2017 interview with ELLE, the model discussed the sources of her early vintage fashion inspiration. She recalled thinking that the tough, city-girl appearance was so fantastic when she saw photographs of New York in the 1970s and 1980s. Whenever I could, I would frequent antique shops and flea markets.
