Hollywood actress Constance Wu attempted to kill herself three years ago due to depression from social media; the Crazy Rich Asians revealed this. Constance Wu faced destructive criticism in 2019 over the statement she made for the sitcom “Fresh Off The Boat.”
After getting trolled by users who made derogatory comments and messages from another Asian American actress who started her, “a blight on the Asian American community”, the actress took a step toward the demise of her life.
Wu said in a statement posted on Twitter, “I started feeling like I didn’t even deserve to live anymore. That I was a disgrace to AsAms, and they’d be better off without me.” She also wrote, “Luckily, a friend found me and rushed me to the ER.”
After surviving the killing attempt, Constance took a break and decided to prioritize her mental health. But later, she decided to come back and discuss this issue on a larger scale of mental health among Asian Americans.
The actress wrote, “AsAms don’t talk about mental health enough.” Also, “While we’re quick to celebrate representation wins, there’s a lot of avoidance around the more uncomfortable issues within our community.”
The actress’ 2019 tweets hit the ABC sitcom “Fresh Off the Boat.”
After feeling unhappy, Wu tweeted, “So upset right now that I’m literally crying. Ugh.”
Wu expressed in her post that all those things were careless. Then the actress wrote, “Even though I’m scared, I’ve decided that I owe it to me-of-3-years-ago to be brave and share my story so that it might help someone with theirs.”
