Actress and fashion model Dakota Mayi Johnson is American. Her parents are actors Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, and she was born in Austin, Texas. Tippi Hedren is an actress and her maternal grandmother.
She made her acting debut in the 1999 movie Crazy in Alabama, in which she and her half-sister Stella Banderas portrayed Melanie Griffith, their real-life mother, in the role of one of the daughters. Her stepfather, Antonio Banderas, was the director of the movie, but it failed to find any success. Dakota opted to pursue a career as an actor and model after continuing her education and delaying her decision for a while. She won the title of Miss Golden Globe in 2006—a title given to children of prominent parents—and used that title as a springboard. Since the Golden Globes’ inception, she was the first second-generation Miss Golden Globe.
Over the past three days, Dakota Johnson has participated in the celebrity custom of a press tour wardrobe marathon in New York City, showing up in five distinct looks created by Kate Young. The Cha Cha Real Smooth actress began the fashion spree on Monday with an all-black Patou ensemble that included a blazer, jeans, and a shirt. She completed her look with Kate Young for Tura sunglasses and Jimmy Choo heels.
Later that day, she changed to white, donning an amazing Area blazer dress with a jewel rib cage and spine open back. She wore the evening ensemble at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of her movie, and she had her brown hair up in a bun.
Tuesday saw Johnson dress in black culottes, a matching crop top, and a cream cardigan from The Andaman and Khaite. She was accessorized with black sandals from Wandler and sunglasses.
By Wednesday morning, Johnson was once more dressed up and on the Today Show for an appearance. The actress was captured on camera sporting a white blazer, an eyelet bralette, a high-waisted skirt, and sandal shoes.
