Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively have been deliriously happy together since they began dating, and it appears that they have hit the romantic jackpot. With that in mind, it would be very reasonable to believe that Reynolds and Lively’s wedding day was flawless. Unfortunately, it was not the case due to two major factors. To begin with, Reynolds and Lively had to apologize for their wedding venue after learning of its shady past. Second, something else occurred that day that had the potential to derail any wedding. When Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively chose to marry, they went to tremendous efforts to ensure that their wedding day was as private as possible. After the wedding, however, it appears that secrecy was no longer a goal, as proven by Lively discussing her wedding in a 2014 Vogue interview.
Blake Lively presented an idyllic picture of her wedding day when she first started talking about it. After all, Lively claimed that she got to hear Florence Welch’s lovely singing while Blake and her guests held sparklers at the ceremony. That’s when things started to go wrong.
“At the reception, Florence Welch was singing, and they had these sparklers out, and I was watching her sing. When I look down, one of the sparklers had left a large burn scar on my bridal gown. On the front row! And that was quite painful for me.”
Blake Lively went on to say that her particular relationship with her hubby made her feel a lot better about the issue. “‘Isn’t it beautiful?’ Ryan said as I hung up my dress. ‘What?’ I exclaimed. And he drew attention to the burn. Because it was such a delicate matter, my heart just stopped. ‘You’ll never forget that moment with Florence singing and the sparklers,’ he added. ‘You have that for the rest of your life, right there, saved.’ That is now my favorite feature of the gown.”
While Blake Lively’s story about her wedding gown being destroyed ends on a happy note, the scenario might have easily turned into a disaster. After all, wedding gowns are typically constructed of flammable materials, and Lively could have been killed if the spark that burnt her dress spread. It doesn’t get much more dangerous than a wedding where one of the happy couple members suffers catastrophic burns or dies.
