There are quite a few actors in the Film Industry who share a deep love for beautiful luxury cars. But there is a rather small list of stars that have actually got in trouble because of them! According to an India Today report, Vijay Joseph Chandrashekhar, better known as Vijay is quite a car lover too. The actor’s collection of luxury cars include an Audi A8, BMW Mini Cooper, and a Rolls-Royce Ghost. The Bigil actor was recently fined by the Madras High Court for tax exemption on his imported car, the Rolls-Royce Ghost on the 13th of July this year.

The actor had filed a writ petition back in 2012 in hopes of getting an exemption of tax on the car. The car was imported from England and the actor was seeking exemption from the entry tax for the Rolls-Royce Ghost that costs around Rs. 6.95 – 7.95 crores. The India Today report claims that the writ petition sought Assessment Circle, Assistant Commissioner, the Regional Transport Officer, and Motor Vehicle Inspector from the Tamil Nadu government from collecting an ‘Entry Tax’ for his Rolls-Royce Ghost.

The judge, SM Subramanian however dismissed the written petition. He stated that paying tax is a duty of every citizen; it isn’t a donation but a contribution! The actor is to pay a fine of 1 lakh and deposit it to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Covid-19 Relief Funds within 2 weeks of the date of receipt of the copy of the order. The actor was also asked to pay the tax within the same 2 week period.
