Emilia Clarke Explains Why It’s Healthy For Your Skin And Hair To Be A Diva And Listen To Your Mom, Read It

Here's what Emilia Clarke has to say about listening to your mom.

Emilia Clarke told Marie Claire that the first thing she did after the restrictions were lifted earlier this year was go out for dinner with five friends and get very, very drunk.
From the beginning, it was evident that this was a woman after our own hearts. The play, however, was placed on hold after only five days due to the feared Covid-restrictions. Marie Claire and Emilia talked about skincare and here’s what she had to say about it.

Why is skin care important?

‘I believe that finding the aesthetic side of confidence begins with skincare.’ When your skin is terrible, it messes with your confidence and makes you feel like you’re 13 all over again. You get to the point where you think, “I should put more make-up on because that would help. But it appears to be getting worse, and you’re hiding from the world. You move around more boldly if you have good skin.”

Has skincare routine changed since she is now in her 30’s?

“It both has and does not. It hasn’t worked with the cleanse, tone, and moisturization routine. I’ve been doing it since the beginning because my mother told me to. My mother instilled in me a strong work ethic. She used to work for Revlon, so she was aware of the situation. Morning and night, she taught me to cleanse, tone, and moisturize. And because I’ve been doing it for 21 years, I could be completely inebriated and still cleanse, tone, and moisturize my skin. It happens without my knowledge. But what I’ve added to the Smart Clinical Repair Wrinkle Correcting Serum is a secret. It’s really fantastic. It’s all about protection, my mother always said. She claims that if you start worrying about wrinkles and lines in your 30s, it will be a lot less of a problem as you become older. When you run into a friend you haven’t seen in a long time and they look amazing. That is precisely what this serum accomplishes. It contains a retinoid, which I’ve always been afraid to use on my skin because it’s so sensitive. But it’s all right. It prevents make-up from getting stuck in creases and keeps your skin from looking sallow at the end of the day. It’s more supple and silky.”

Go to beauty treatments?

‘Manis. Shellac manicures are my favorite. It began to chip during the lockdown, and no one was there to remove it for me. As a result of the forced hiatus, my nails felt stronger. But as soon as the salons reopened, I returned. Shellac 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.”
