Emma Mackey is a British-French actress who has been on television and in films. She rose to prominence in 2019 after starring as Maeve Wiley in the Netflix comedy-drama Sex Education, for which she was nominated for a BAFTA Television Award for Best Female Comedy Performance. Emma Mackey was born in Le Mans, Sarthe, on January 4, 1996. Her father is a teacher named John Mackey, and her mother’s name is Jeny Mackey. From 2013 to 2016, she earned a bachelor’s degree in English language and literature from the University of Leeds.
In 2016, Emma made her acting debut as Michelle in the television film Badger Lane. In 2018, she played Isabelle in the television series Summit Fever. In 2019 and 2021, she was cast in the Netflix comedy-drama series Sex Education (Seasons 1 and 2) as Maeve Wiley, a confident but troubled girl who befriends Otis and operates a sexual therapy clinic with him.
Aside from television, Emma made her Hollywood debut in the year 2022 with Death on Nile as Jacqueline de Bellefort in the film Death on the Nile. The film is a sequel to the 2017 film Murder on the Orient Express.
