Sam Levinson (Assassination Nation), who also serves as executive producer, wrote every episode of Euphoria, an American adaptation of an Israeli program of the same name. The show is made in collaboration with A24 (Lady Bird, Random Acts of Flyness, 2 Dope Queens, Pod Save America). The Israeli series’ creators, Ron Leshem and Daphna Levin, are also executive producers. HBO announced on July 11, 2019, that the show had been given a second season.
HBO revealed that Euphoria would return for two extra episodes on October 19, 2020, to fill the void between its acclaimed first and second seasons. The first special made an early streaming debut on HBO Max on December 4 and 3, 2020, before making its public television debut on December 6, 2020. The second special made an early streaming debut on HBO Max on January 22, 2021, and its official broadcast was on January 24, 2020.A24 unveiled The Euphoria Volumes: S1 Boxed Set on April 19, 2021, a set of 8 books that includes every written script from the show’s first season as well as exclusive interviews with the cast. The boxed set went on sale for $98 USD on April 27, 2021
