I feel Fashion was a game-changer for Priyanka Chopra, Kangana Ranaut & me as a filmmaker – Madhur Bhandarkar on Fashion completing 12 years

Check out what Madhur Bhandarkar has to say on Fashion completing 12 years in the industry today

This is the first time a pandemic scare has kept all over the globe indoors - Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar

When it comes to achieving ‘excellence’ in the Indian Film Industry, very few manage to do it successfully. One such name is Madhur Bhandarkar. Although his career as a director started with a big flop in the form of ‘Trishakti’, Madhur Bhandarkar quickly understood his forte and boom, his second film ‘Chandni Bar’ earned him a National Award. The success spree soon followed with films like Aan: Men At Work, Corporate, Fashion, Heroine, Calendar Girls and many more and he got branded as a director who is known for making the most ‘realistic’ films.

As Fashion completed 12 long years in the industry, IWMBuzz spoke exclusively to Madhur and asked about the movie. Madhur said and we quote,

“It makes me feel very happy. Fashion and Heroine both are films which continue to be relevant even today. If you see in the last few months, these two movies were quite talked about for showing the real and dark side of the glamour industry. I feel Fashion was a game-changer for Priyanka Chopra, Kangana Ranaut & myself as a filmmaker. It makes me feel very happy to see how both Kangana and Priyanka are doing so wonderfully in their respective work. Even Chandni Bar I feel was pretty much ahead of its time.”

When asked further about whether he has been able to follow up with all the buzz and appreciation around ‘Fashion’ on social media today, he further added,

“Actually to be very honest, I am lucky to be getting messages and appreciation for these movies on other regular days as well. 12 years is a special feat and the filmmaker inside me is very happy that my work done 12 years back is making buzz even now.”
