Shruti Haasan is the daughter of veteran actors, Kamal Haasan and Sarika Thakur. She prominently works in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil movies. She is known for her roles in Luck, Ramaiya Vastavaiya, Gabbar is Back, and Welcome Back.
Shruti is also an established playback singer. She has been quite open and bold with her statements in the media. After the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, there was a raging debate about nepotism in Bollywood. She admitted that she got the opportunity in the movies just because of her parents.
While in talks with Cinema Express, Shruti stated, “The doors of the film industry opened for me simply because of my surname. It would be criminal to deny that. But over the years, I learned that things are different in Tamil and Telugu cinema when compared to Bollywood.”
Discussing her statement, she further added, “I made my debut alongside a star like Suriya in Tamil, an actor who also got his break because of his father, Sivakumar sir. And yet, his path to stardom was carved by his work. After that initial launch, every actor has to prove their talent and work hard to get their next offer, especially in Telugu and Tamil cinema.”
Her statements clearly state that it is easy to get in but difficult to hold on to the position.
