When Olivia Colman won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama at the 2021 Emmy Awards for her efforts on The Crown today, she seized the crowd. Olivia has been working in the industry for decades and has received numerous awards, including an Oscar and now an Emmy. However, at the star-studded event, The Crown star Olivia Colman broke everyone’s hearts when she paid tribute to her late father during the Emmys 2021. ‘I’d have put money on that not happening!’ she said. Colman co-stars alongside Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie in the 2016 film The Night Manager as British Intelligence agent Angela Burr. She’s on a quest to bring Laurie’s millionaire character, Richard Roper, down, and she enlists the help of Hiddleston’s Jonathan Pine, a hotel night manager.

Deborah Flowers is played by Colman, who is married to Maurice (Julian Barratt), whom she can’t divorce despite their breakup.

Colman won a BAFTA for Best Supporting Actress for this performance. We won’t give too much away, but she plays Sue Brown, a devoted mother whose son is murdered by a neighborhood gang and who enlists the help of her best friend to fight gun violence–only to discover later that this friend is involved in the crime.
