Joseph Vijay Chandrasekhar is much more than just some other Tamil celebrity. Vijay, also known as “Ilayathalapathy” (young commander) or simply “Thalapathy,” is now an all-time top choice in Tamil cinema, second to just the awesome Rajnikanth. He is the top performer, and all he touches turns into blockbusters. If you haven’t seen his films, you should. Also, if you’ve already seen his movies, go back and watch them again.
Ghilli
This dreamy action drama has a one-of-a-kind plot. It is a film adaptation of Okkadu, a Telugu hit. It’s about a kabaddi player named Velu who travels to Madurai for a contest and saves Dhanalakshmi from the clutches of an infamous leader who is hellbent on forcing her marriage. Ghilli is a fantastic performer. Each character is well advanced, the script is thrilling, the songs are beautifully constructed, the fight scenes are well implemented, and the film as a whole is excellent. Vijay steals the spotlight with his performance, making Ghilli a must-watch.
Nanban
The film Nanban is a retelling of the Bollywood film 3 Idiots. Vijay plays Panchavan Parivendan, a keen learner who strangely vanishes after college and sends his friends on an adventure to find him. Nanban stood out for Vijay because it wasn’t massive.’ He didn’t play a love or an action hero. It demonstrated his adaptability and capacity to take on much more complex and subtle and exploratory roles, demonstrating his skill as an actor even further. Nanban is a heartwarming and hilarious coming-of-age film that everyone should see.
Pokkiri
Vijay plays Thamizh, a violent thug entangled in a web of death, lies, crime, and love in Pokkiri. On the one side, he is inclined to do more for wealth, including murder, but he also needs to save his partnership with Shruthi, who despises his violent side. This Prabhu Deva romantic thriller has everything a blockbuster should have: a powerful storyline, legendary catchphrases, a sense of humour, talented actors, and a big twist. Pokkiri is a lighthearted performer and one of Vijay’s best films.
Kaththi
Kaththi has been by far Vijay’s most successful film as an actor. Vijay plays both an escaped convict, Kathiresan, and his civilian doppelganger, Jeeva, in this A.R. Murugadoss thriller. When Jeeva is brutally murdered, Kathiresan presumes his character, but soon discovers that he is a revolutionary in several ways. Kaththi is a fast-paced thriller that will have you captivated from the first section. The action is unlike anything else, as is Vijay’s performance.
Nilavu Kannukkul
It would be a heinous crime not to include Kannukkul Nilavu in this lineup. Vijay plays Gautham in Kannukkul Nilavu, a guy with deep mental problems who goes back in time with the aid of Hema and her father to make some sense of his current time. Kannukkul Nilavu is a suspenseful drama that goes beyond simple love stories. It delves deeply into trauma and mental anguish. Vijay excels in the role of Gautham, demonstrating that he is much more than the lovely boy next door; he is a true actor. Kannukkul Nilavu is a must-see for its unique story and an excellent script.
