The Korean drama based on Min Jin Lee’s No. 1 best-selling book of the same name tells the story of a Korean immigrant family throughout four generations. This Lee Min-ho film, which depicts the tale of a family that overcomes all difficulties to remain alive and return to their roots with faith, is set against the backdrop of the Japanese invasion of Korea.

This lovely series affected many people since it exposed several critical societal issues present not only in South Korea but also around the world. It is situated on the scenic Jeju Island and shows the daily problems and difficulties the locals deal with.

The story’s main character is a high school student with a passion for fencing. She meets Nam Joo Hyuk’s character Baek Yi Jin, whose family is in financial distress but eventually succeeds in landing a job as a reporter. However, characters in the coming-of-age drama have their hopes and aspirations dashed against the stormy backdrop of South Korea’s severe financial crisis.

The story, which focuses on their daily lives, is about three siblings trying to find their place in the world. The slice-of-life drama tells a complex and compelling tale of broken dreams and impossibly difficult personal freedom.
