The wedding of Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas in the South of France in 2019 was cloaked in mystery. The finale of Game of Thrones, the epic HBO series that launched Turner’s career, had just aired a month prior, and the media frenzy around the young pair was at an all-time high. The location remained a closely guarded secret.
The photographers were kept at bay at all costs. There were very few pictures on social media. The only people who knew anything about the event were the folks who were there. Turner eventually felt ready to open up on their second wedding anniversary.
It all started with a single Instagram photo of the actress in a lace, long-sleeved Louis Vuitton gown, hand-in-hand with her new husband as they walked down the aisle. She wrote, “2 years as your wife holy moly I love you bub.” She quickly followed up with a slideshow of additional wedding images.
She continued, “I mean, screw it, it’s been two years.” She also uploaded a lovely overhead photo of the Château de Tourreau, where they were married. Guests congregate around the property’s enormous pool, soaking up the heat of the Provencal sun. The photo dump comes at an opportune time since destination weddings are making a comeback.
Nonetheless, the world, and life’s joys, are gently but steadily emerging. And, once again, lavish celebrity weddings feel like a lot of fun rather than a waste of time. So, congrats, Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas, and thanks for sharing.
