Here’s Why Zendaya Took A Break From Social Media

Know the real reason behind Zendaya's Instagram break.

Zendaya, an actress and singer, spoke up on how she copes with the pressures of fame in the age of social media in January 2021. To be on social media, regardless of whether that’s Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, or another site, allows celebrities to interact with fans from all over the world in an instant. A-list celebrities can use social media to readily communicate information about current projects they’re working on, such as the release of a new album or an upcoming role in a film or television show. Celebrities can also use social media to communicate with their fans and share key life events in a more personalized way. Regardless of the fact that it is a simple way to engage with a big audience, social media does not always promote happiness, especially among Hollywood’s elite.

Zendaya talked about how she controls her social media accounts in a podcast discussion with HFPA writer Aniko Navai. She’s been increasingly famous in recent years, and as of this writing, she’s the youngest woman to ever win an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her part in HBO’s smash series Euphoria. Zendaya has almost 85 million Instagram followers as of this writing. Here’s why she thinks it’s crucial to have control over her Instagram account and not be on social media all the time.

Zendaya told details about why she takes social media pauses in an interview with The HFPA in Conversation podcast in January 2021. She told Aniko Navai in an interview that she is “extremely cautious about Instagram” and restricts her time on it to deal with anxiety. “I was significantly more active [on Instagram] when I was younger,” she said, “but over time I guess I just found that being on it would sort of make me uneasy or that I would start to overanalyze a little too much or be on my phone a little too much.” “My relationship with all of that is my own and unique to me,” she continued, “but it’s also something I like to keep track of.” “My relationship with all of it is my own and unique to me,” she continued, “but it is also something with which I like to keep a little space.”

“I think my fans who have known me and who I feel like really comprehend me respect that,” she said of her choice to post less regularly. “They understand that I am a human being, and I think they want me to have a life, and I think they want me to be happy and exist beyond social media.”

Zendaya also acknowledged her supporting family for helping her retain a healthy mindset as she learns to live with being a worldwide phenomenon in the interview.
