The Before trilogy by writer-director Richard Linklater is a raw and understated take on the romance subgenre that centers on two characters who do nothing but talk and move about. It all began on a train to Vienna when Jesse (Ethan Hawke) and Celine (Julie Delpy), two strangers, happened to sit next to one other. They stay up late talking about their perspectives on art, love, and life in general.
Before Trilogy
Hands down, my absolute favorite movie series. Crazy plot twists, drama & jokes are fun and all, but nothing will ever beat the simplicity, just pure raw conversations of this film. I love just how real this movie feels. We may not get another movie in this series, but I’ll always treasure these three. If you haven’t watched yet, this is the universe’s sign to JUST DO IT NOW.
500 Days Of Summer
While 99% of the movie raises our expectations of love, 500 Days of Summer shows the brutal reality of it. As the narrator rightly puts it, it’s not a love story… It’s a story about love, and It’s one of my all-time favorites. Another movie that hits close to reality.. because sometimes you don’t get a happy ending, but it doesn’t mean it’s not a good ending 🙂
Definitely, Maybe
If How Met Your Mother is on at that time, then the movie is on. The movie’s story revolves around a father telling his daughter a legend. And if I’m being completely honest, you won’t be let down by the film’s conclusion. among my favorites. Also, Reynolds, Ryan
I Want You Back
Since it’s my favorite romance of the year, the bias against recent films probably applies. Two people going through a breakup decide to become friends and attempt to get over their ex-partners, but you know how that ends up. Even though it is predictable, you will adore it. I cried while watching a love story after a long time.
Her, Begin Again & Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
The holy trinity of love stories that I have seen at least three times and never failed to cry during. Although the plot of Her—a man falls in love with an Al—is odd, the feelings feel too genuine. Beautiful, amazing film. A movie that feels like a hug is Begin Again. a must-see if you’re moving past a breakup. And the last “Okay…” “Okay…” from eternal sunshine breaks your heart into a million pieces, collects them all, and puts them back together.
Your Name & Weathering With You
You will cry towards the end of these two anime movies since they have such a clever and touching theme. Peak emotions and drama. Fun fact: I saw Weathering With You on the first day it was released on Indian big screens, and it was a lovely experience. Majesty of Makoto Shinkai!
‘Me, Earl & Dying Girl’ ‘TFIOS’ & ‘5 Feet Apart’
These three films would represent the genre of tragic love stories if such a thing existed. If you intend to watch either of them, be warned that it will become truly dukh, dard, aansu, kasht, and peeda. Me Before You can probably be included in the mix as well. I don’t know if it’s a toxic trait, but I enjoy watching tragic love stories.
About Time & 10 Things I Hate About You
Two timeless gems from this genre will always be among my favorites. A happy, wholesome film, About Time will leave you crying like a baby by the end. The last poem wala scene from 10 Things Hate About You’ll always have a special place in my heart, and the soundtrack is fantastic.
Set It Up, La La Land & Love, And Other Drugs
God, it was hard to choose the top romantic comedies of today, but here we are. Set It Up was a MASSIVE surprise; I didn’t anticipate enjoying it this much. La La Land is a joyful, enjoyable musical. before it isn’t. The final scene will truly break you. And for some reason, Love & Other Drugs is my go-to movie. It is very much my favorite!
