Talented actor Behzaad Khan, who played the nemesis act with utmost ease in the Hrithik Roshan starrer film Fighter, ventures into the South market empathically and has bagged a meaty role in the most-anticipated Prithviraj Sukumaran directorial film L2: Empuraan which has Mohanlal in the lead role. The film will be the second part of the highly acclaimed and well-received film Lucifer. L2: Empuraan is produced by Anthony Perumbavoor’s Aashirvad Cinemas and Lyca Productions and is written by Murali Gopy.
The first teaser of the film was released recently at the 25th-year celebration of Aashirvad Cinemas, where South stalwarts Mammootty and Mohanlal were present. L2: Empuraan, which will have a theatrical release on 27 March, has kickstarted its promotion grandly. As part of the pre-release introduction to the 36 characters to be seen in the film, the makers have announced character introductions to happen everyday at 10 IST and 6 PM IST. As of now, actors Jaise Jose, Sshivada, Aneesh G Menon and Behzaad Khan have been introduced via social media.
Behzaad Khan is the first Non-Malayalam actor in the cast of L2: Empuraan, which is heralded to have many big names from the Indian as well as International markets.
As part of the Character 33 release, Behzaad Khan was introduced to the audience in the character look of the terrorist Salabath Hamza.
We at IWMBuzz.com got in touch with Behzaad on his advent into the South industry and his presence in L2: Empuraan.
Says Behzaad, “L2: Empuraan is a big and massive project. I shot in Shimla. It is a multi-starrer film and has been shot in various locations, both in India and internationally. The challenge for me was that the character had to look a little aged.”
Talking about his venture into Malayalam films, Behzaad states, “Malayalam Cinema has great stories. The makers believe in a portrayal in which things are realistic. Even when it is a commercial film, the emphasis is on the performance, not being over-the-top. The story narration has been very smooth. This is my first project down South. It has been an absolute privilege to work on this project and be directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, and also be a part of the project, which has the legendary actor Mohanlal in it. This is a big beginning for me down South.”
Best of luck!!
