During every auspicious event, black has always been on the ‘black list,’ and it is still regarded as nasty, diabolical, and unlucky. Though most of us can’t get enough of black clothing and love to wear them to every occasion in our lives, the color is forced to be restricted to festivities that include nosy neighbors and black-o-phobic family members. Here, Bollywood divas looked stunning in black ethnic clothes, proving that black might be the most auspicious color for the occasion.
First up is Alia Bhatt’s magnificent Anita Dongre sharara suit, which has the glitter factor as well as the ethnic flair to look appropriate for this holiday season. Her all-black costume included a long kurta with silver decorations, matching palazzo trousers, and an embroidered dupatta. Alia wore little makeup and a small black bindi, looking stunning in her beautiful ethnic avatar. Her outfit was completed with center-parted straight hair and oxidized statement earrings.
Tara Sutaria looked stunning in a similar sharara ensemble by Punit Balana. Her strappy Kurti had a deep neckline and gold thread embroidery. She wore it with a transparent black dupatta with the same border pattern. She wore her bouncy curls in a centre part and accessorized with blush, dewy complexion, winged eyeliner, and shoulder-grazing earrings. Her stunning costume would make anyone look like a diva this Diwali!
Deepika Padukone looked stunning in a black Sabyasachi suit, as she often does with her voluptuous design choices. Her backless black Kurti was embellished with elaborate beading and teamed with a black dupatta and white legging. Her conventional make-up and hairstyle harkened back to the 1960s. Red lips, bold chandbalis, and a black bindi upped the glam factor, which the Piku star completed with silver Louboutin shoes.
If, in addition to shararas, kurta sets, and sarees, lehengas are your preferred choice for the holiday season, take a hint from Katrina Kaif. Her Sabyasachi OTT black lehenga had a flowery design all over her billowing skirt and was paired with a matching floral dupatta and a high neck, full-sleeve plain top. She complemented her basic top with a bold silver necklace and looked stunning in a black lehenga.
