She’s at ease in her own flesh! From her debut on American Idol to giving birth to two children, Kelly Clarkson has learned to appreciate her body through all of its changes.
When she first rose to stardom in 2002 on American Idol season 1, the “Miss Independent” singer was publicly criticized for her weight. “I was the biggest girl in the [American Idol cast] too,” Clarkson was noted saying on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. “And I wasn’t big, but people would call me big … I’ve kind of always gotten that.”
But despite all the shame and hate, she’s been extremely positive about her body. The singer later welcomed her baby girl, Rose, in the year 2014 with her husband Brandon Blackstock and their son Remington in the year 2016. A year after the birth of her son she joined The Voice as a judge. Later in the year 2020, the singer was quoted saying that she was at her ‘heaviest point’ during that time.
In June 2018, the Grammy winner flaunted a leaner body. Clarkson said on the Today show at the time that she shed 37 pounds after switching to a “non-GMO, no pesticides, eating really organic” diet. In a June 2020 interview with Glamor U.K., the Kelly Clarkson Show host expressed the same idea, saying that she recognized her body’s flaws as positives.
