The language debate has been going deeper and deeper like never currently on Twitter. While Stop Hindi Imposition is going up on a trend, Manoj Bajpayee one of the finest actors in Bollywood, called the debate a futile one. The actor even added that he definitely has an interest in doing a South film, but however the box office numbers do not attract him.
Talking to India Today, Manoj Bajpayee said, “One thing I know is there are too many official languages in this country. Yes, Hindi is one. Hindi is spoken by the biggest share of the population but that does not say anything. We have to learn the cultural ethos of each language. Hindi is not my mother tongue, Bhojpuri is and that is the dialect I feel comfortable communicating in. The entire chaos around the language debate is futile.”
Adding on how he is all for doing a south film, but not influenced by the box office numbers, said, “Everything depends on the offer. I don’t do films because certain films are hits or I don’t like to be part of films just because a few films have become a box office hit. For me, it’s very important what is offered to me and that has remained constant in my life. I don’t go by the box-office numbers. I go by my judgement of the films I watch, and they are not influenced by box office numbers.”Live TV
