Natalie Portman’s Acting Evolution Over The Years: From Léon: The Professional To Thor

Natali Portman's top-level performance in her movies is impeccable.

Natalie Portman has continued to impress and succeed in front of the camera since her debut in “Léon: The Professional.” Let’s take a look back at the actress’s illustrious career path.

Léon: The Professional

At the age of 13, the Israeli-born model and actress made her cinematic debut as Mathilda in “Léon: The Professional.” Portman landed her first big acting role – and an impressive one at that – as a vengeful apprentice for Jean Reno’s expert Léon.

Beautiful Girls

Portman demonstrated her ability to work with Hollywood heavyweights like Matt Dillon, Rosie O’Donnell, and Uma Thurman two years later. Portman enchanted audiences on and off-screen as Marty, the smart-talking adolescent. This was one of Portman’s final jobs before taking the stage in “The Diary of Anne Frank” on Broadway.

Garden State

Portman featured alongside Zach Braff in “Garden State” as Samantha, a habitual liar, after graduating and repeating her role as Queen Amidala for the second instalment of the “Star Wars” prequels in 2002. Portman stated she was insecure about the picture since she played a manic pixie dream girl at the 2015 Toronto Film Festival.

Closer

Later that year, she starred as Alice in Mike Nichol’s 2004 film “Closer,” in which she was seductive but mysterious. Portman was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress for the performance in 2005.

Black Swan

As if Portman’s career wasn’t already notable enough, she ruffled some feathers by winning an Oscar, a Golden Globe, and a BAFTA for her performance in Darren Aronofsky’s “Black Swan.” Portman met her husband, dancer and choreographer Benjamin Millepied, on the set of this terrifying film.

Thor

In “Thor,” Portman made her debut appearance in the Marvel universe as astronomer Jane Foster, the hammer-wielding god’s love interest. Although we’ve enjoyed seeing Portman take the wheel in films, she still managed to shine in this supporting role.
