Barely had Nawazuddin Siddiqui touched down in Mumbai from London when he plunged into his next project.
“It’s called Adbhut and I am excited about it…I have to , or else I wouldn’t be doing it. I won’t take on any project unless it excites me,” says Nawaz resolutely.
So tell me about Adbhut? “As the title suggests it’s something never attempted before. I can’t tell you what I play . But it’s something I’ve never attempted before. My co-star is the talented Diane Penty. The director is Sabbir Khan.I’ve worked with him in Munna Michael before. I am very comfortable with him. Hence ,a second film. I won’t work twice with a director I am not comfortable with.”
Nawaz has just finished a schedule in London with his Munna Michael co-star Tiger Shroff.
“We shot for Heropanti 2 in London. Tiger is such a disciple focused hard worker. Log nepotism ki baat karte hain.No actor , no matter where he comes from, survives in the rat race unless he is sincere to his work. People go to see Tiger not for being Jackie Shroff’son , or me for being an outsider. They watch our films because they like us.”
About shooting with director Ahmed Khan and producer Sajid Nadiadwala for Heropanti 2 Nawaz says, “ I think the first Heropanti was directed by Sabbir Khan. The second one is directed by Ahmed Khan. Ahmed made sure we were comfortable shooting under Covid guidelines.I play the main villain in this film. I’ve tried to bring a different shade to my villainy here, just like I had done for producer-director Sajid Nadiadwala in Kick.”
Incidentally this is the second feature film in a row that Nawazzuddin has shot in London. “Just two months ago I was in London shooting for Sangeen . That’s suspense thriller . I play the protagonist. Beyond that, my lips are sealed.”
