‘Boycotting’ has become a roaring trend nowadays. Nothing very exciting about it! The unnecessary calling-outs on Twitter do not really help in change but chaos. And the rage has sparked again with the release of Besharam Rang from the movie Pathaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham.
The song has hit over 32 million views YouTube and still counting. However, the initial reactions were absolutely ‘gaga’ as you call it! But as days elevated, netizens picked up on the flaws, following the Boycott trend on Twitter. However, what’s disheartening is to see that it’s Deepika Padukone who became their ‘soft target’ in the process. It’s not the first time, the actress has been called out in such disparaging remarks on social media, earlier it occurred during, Chhapaak, Padmavaat and more.
According to the netizens, the song ‘Besharam Rang’ is nothing but a ‘show off of your assets’, and it is because Bollywood is out of ideas. Many others compared the movie with Kantara. One wrote, “The difference between a South Indian film which pays tribute to our Bharatiya culture & traditions & a Bollywoodiya dirt which latches on to obscenity for gaining some success. No wonder the former is a blockbuster & no one watches the latter.” Another writes, “I’ve been a banker for 40 years. And you can trust me on Bankruptcy! When there is a bankruptcy of ideas, talent and morality, the only option that remains is to auction your assets to the public!”

Some also pointed out Deepika Padukone’s costume where she wears a ‘burnt orange’ swimsuit. But according to them, the song intendedly to insult the ‘saffron’ colour. To this, popular South actor Prakash Raj lauded support for Deepika and Pathaan, and called the people “Colourblind” who found the bikini ‘saffron’.
